Welcome to Go Fit Mama!
Women, and especially moms, wear a dozen different hats on any given day. Emotional nurturer. Activity planner. Chauffeur. Maid, cook, and cleaner. Role model. Doctor. Teacher. If you're like me, having five minutes alone in the bathroom is a luxury. I wanted to create something for women who are moms or are somewhere on the journey to becoming a parent. Fitness is and has been a huge part of my life through every stage, and I wanted a forum that combines fitness, motherhood, and some lifestyle bits and pieces for good measure.
My hope is that Go Fit Mama can be a positive, relevant website and blog for women who are all the things mentioned above, and more. As Helen Keller said, “The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker.” Not everyone will be a superstar (although truthfully, raising tiny humans pretty much makes you an automatic hero, in my opinion). But whatever your role is will cause the world to be a better place. And in turn, maybe my site can play a small part in making someone’s world a tiny bit better.
If you have the good fortune to have a few minutes to yourself, please take a look and enjoy!
I’m a wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, group fitness instructor, previous nonprofit project manager, former teacher, and business owner. All the hats mentioned in the About section of this site are part of my daily rotation. Going back to my education roots: I have two masters degrees. I earned my MA in Psychology in Education from Columbia University and an MSW with a concentration in School Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Then life took me on a meandering path through teaching, non-profit project management, non-profit consulting, motherhood both while working and motherhood while not working out of the home. At 44, I feel like the world is my oyster and I’m taking strides toward making my dreams a reality.
